2018 Multi-culture Lantern Festival Celebration

Funded by Ontario Government of Canada, organized by Toronto Chinese Ai Yue Philharmonic Arts Centre, and supported by Huaxia Culture and Arts, RH Concert Band, Red Maple Sunset Glow Cultural Association, Toronto Yue Opera, Teacher Huang Music School etc., the Multicultural Lantern Festival Celebration was held in Richmond Hill Langstaff Community Centre with great success.

It was designed for introducing Chinese Lantern Festival and its tradition, also enhancing the exchange between different cultures, strengthen the unity and harmony of the local community. The celebration activities are including Chinese waist dram dance, the exhibition of Calligraphy and painting, handicraft, lantern art, riddles and draw etc. and stage performance.

 

The stage performances are also expressing multicultural style with not only Chinese traditional folk songs, dances, opera and recitation, but also western style programs : Italian opera, Russian and English songs, the typical one is a joint performance by Chinese Choruses (Ai Yue and Huaxia) and RH Concert band on the stage together to show an exciting Chorus program.

South China Yue Opera ‘ Eighteen Miles farewell’ from a famous love story.


The closing chorus:Chinese < Festival Joyful song>, and Beethoven’s <Ode to Joy> by Ai Yue and Huaxia group companied by Richmond Hill Concert Band push to the performance to the last climax.


The Audiences including local Canadian and Chinese Canadians all very enjoyed the performance and the Lantern Festival joyful atmosphere。 Our performances were warmly applauded and welcomed. The back wall were riddles, and paint arts the exhibition of Calligraphy and painting, handicraft etc.
